ANIMALS

We can classify animals in different ways. Podemos clasificar los animales de diferentes maneras.

                                           VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES

According to the internal structure of their bodies, there are two main groups of animals:   vertebrates and invertebrates. Según la estructura interna de sus cuerpos, hay dos grupos principales de animales: vertebrados e invertebrados.

1. VERTEBRATES are animales with a skelleton (bones). Los VERTEBRADOS son animales que tienen esqueleto (huesos).

Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish are vertebrate animals. Los mamífereos, las aves, los reptiles, los anfibios y los peces son animales vertebrados.

2. INVERTEBRATES are animales without  a skelleton. Los INVERTEBRADOS son animales que no tienen esqueleto (huesos).

Molluscs, arthropods and worms, among others, are  invertebrate animals.

DOMESTIC AND WILD ANIMALS

Animals can be wild or domestic. Los animales pueden ser salvajes o domésticos.

1. WILD animals don´t live with people, they live in their natural habitat. They don´t have relationship with humans. Los animales SALVAJES no viven con las personas, viven en la naturaleza. No tienen relación con los humanos.

Lions, zebras, elephants and foxes are examples of wild animals. Los leones, las cebras, los elefantes y los zorros son ejemplos de animales salvajes.

2. DOMESTIC animals live with people or on a farm. Los animales DOMÉSTICOS viven con las personas o en una granja.

Sheep, cows, horses, dogs and cats are examples of domestic animal. Las ovejas, las vacas, los caballos, los perros y los gatos son ejemplos de animales domésticos.

People look after animals. Las personas cuidan de los animales.  Animals living at home with us are pets. Los animales que viven en casa con nosotros se llaman mascotas. VIVIPAROUS AND OVIPAROUS Viviparous animals are born from their mother´s womb. Los animales vivíparos nacen del vientre de su madre.  Oviparous animals are born from an egg.
